Waingels College Art and Design Year 13 students celebrated another successful Private View: ‘Solace’ on Wednesday 12th July. Every year we welcome the student’s friends & families, staff, members of the community and past Waingels students along to our end of year Art show. This is always a very social event that allows us as a school to keep in touch with our Alumni.

This year, the work encompassed came from Textiles, Photography and Graphic Design students displaying a range of outcomes from large scale installations, to photobooks, and fabric paintings. Students worked extremely hard to organise the exhibition themselves by hanging and curating, designing a promotional poster, organising refreshments and on the evening meeting and greeting visitors that walked through our doors.

Miss Richardson’s work has been selected to be part of the Beyond Surface exhibition at The Glass Tank gallery at Oxford Brookes. The exhibition celebrates Art teachers who are making their own work.  The exhibition featuring ceramics, painting, Textiles and drawing continues until the 21st July.

Photoshop workshop

As well as Ms U’ren’s Print Making Workshop tomorrow we also have a Photoshop workshop lead by Mr Smith this Thursday 22nd June. Please sign up at the Art Office if this is something that interests you!

Students took part in the first Summer Sessions masterclass on Street Art Stencilling this week. Joined by staff as well, they learnt how to make multiple stencils to build up layers and colour in their artwork. They all worked together to create one board full of stencils which will be displayed in the Art Department. All students really challenged themselves and the outcomes look great!
