Congratulations to Ellie for winning third prize in the Reading Secondary Schools Art competition! Her beautiful felt and hand stitch piece ‘Starry Night’  was much admired by the public and judges.

Thank you to Sailsbury’s New Art Centre for entertaining our GCSE 3D & Product Design students on Tuesday 19th September. The centre provided students with detailed talks and engaging practical tasks. Students found the day very useful as they discovered many materials and processes to experiment with in their own projects when returning to school. We look forward to seeing the students projects developing and how their inspiration from the visit will impact their work.

Textiles Workshop

Our final Summer workshop is running after school today 3:00-4:30pm in R108. We hope to see many staff and students there!

Drawing with Confidence

Our next Summer Workshop launches this week; Drawing with Confidence. Please sign up at the Art Office if this is something that you would be interested in taking part in.

Beautiful Natural Forms prints from our Print Making workshop this week. To create these positive and negative pieces students learned a variety of mono printing techniques such as burnishing and collage; with the use of wallpaper to help create textured backgrounds. To generate such refined pieces of work students used the printing press, this has allowed elements such as leaf veins to appear in more detail! I think you will agree that for first timers students have succeeded to created beautiful outcomes!

Students continued to engage in our Summer Workshops last week; with Miss Goldswain leading Wood Turning on Thursday 15th June. Was lovely to see staff members as well as students take part. Students practised a variety of techniques on the Wood Lathe and created some beautiful work.
